I met Ms. M. in 2019 while working as an Education Technology Integrator at a charter school in North Philadelphia. Ms M. was an assistant principal and very excited to turnaround the school. I assisted her with the following:
Created a multimedia presentation for her "Cheetahs Compete" initiative
Brought her to a local Apple Distinguished School visit
Created a logo for a school initiative
Created a blended learning website showing our staff members reading virtually to Kindergarteners
I met Mr B. back in 2020 while working as a Staff Developer at a rural middle and high school in New Jersey. He was an innovative assistant superintendent. Mr. B. was so impressed with my ideas that he put me on the following committees:
HS leadership team
MS leadership team
HS technology team
MS technology team
HS math leadership team
MS math leadership team
HS science leadership team
MS science leadership team
Back in 2014, I was working as a technology teacher and technology rep for a middle school in Denver, CO. Shortly after I started there, admin gave me a walkie! At that point, I thought I made it (or maybe I didn't).
All jokes aside, leadership quickly put me on the SLT (School Leadership Team) and Personnel Committee. I became an integral part of the school's leadership.
I met Dr. R. in 2019 when I worked at a charter school in North Philadelphia. She was the leader of the school: CEO. It was a challenging relationship since she was, admittedly, very uncomfortable with technology in general. Also, she admittedly was very slow to adopt new initiatives. Things I did to build a relationship:
custom made her a 3d printed poodle since she loved her dog
sent to her house some surprise Christmas presents over the holiday
personally asked if we could go to lunch one day during a break
facilitated an in-person meeting with the educational leadership division of Apple Edu at our school since we were an Apple school
brought our leadership to a Future Ready Schools conference
I can't say we ended with a strong relationship, but I least I can say I tried my best!
