Soft Skills vs Hard Skills

As I've moved through my years serving in education and working mostly with struggling learners, I've realized over and over that it is the soft skills which are most important for a student's success over the long-term.

Further, as I've continued my own learning journey, now in my doctorate, I've learned the same valuable lesson. It's the soft skills that cause me to be able to handle varied, challenging tasks.

So when I work with kids or adults, I'm always trying to build the capacity for them to become Independent Learners. These are the soft skills necessary to become successful in whichever career path they choose. An Independent Learner has the soft skills necessary to learn whichever hard skills they desire!
