Ensure your connection requests are active!

The best way to do this is to connect with people who are actively posting, liking, and commenting. When you see a post that resonates with you, open it up and request anyone who is commenting or liking the post. That way you'll know they are active users.

You can also open people's profiles, scroll down to their Activity, and check the date on their last post. I never reached out to anyone over 1 month, and usually within 1 week.

Of course, make sure you are filling our your new profile. Some people will look at your profile before accepting your request, some won't.

Have at least the basics filled out: profile and cover images, headline, some work history, etc.
