Staff Recognition/Empowerment
Just like effective educators recognize and empower students in the classroom, we should do the same to recognize and empower teachers to serve as leaders throughout the school.
My suggestion is to have weekly opportunities for teachers to observe effective colleagues both horizontally and vertically with respect to grade and content. The process would be the following:
teacher meets with teacher to be visited and decides one strategy to focus on (Week 1)
teacher visits colleague and observes that one strategy (Week 2)
teacher debriefs after visit and plans to incorporate that one strategy the following week (Week 3)
teachers switch roles (Week 4)
teachers debrief again regarding the one strategy that was implemented (Week 5)
